Newcastle based online takeaway platform expands into “thriving” business park
The FoodHouse, which designs websites and apps for restaurants, takeaways and cafes, has moved into new premises at Baker’s Yard to facilitate the business’s growth and expansion.
The FoodHouse is a family-run business which links customers to local restaurants and takeaways without the high rates and commissions associated with national delivery platforms. Local businesses interested in finding out more about the services being offered by being part of The FoodHouse are invited to take part in a free three-month trial.
Baker’s Yard, a business park on the former site of the original Greggs Bakery in Gosforth, is home to an eclectic community of businesses from creative agencies to alarm manufacturers. The 80,000 sq ft development is now close to full occupancy and is becoming a thriving, dynamic business hub.
The site incorporates four main buildings, all named in honour of the former use of the site, The Stottie Shed, The Confectionery Store, The Freezer and The Pantry, which are further subdivided and suitable for a variety of office, light industrial, and storage uses.

David Duff of The FoodHouse commented: “This is a fantastic move for our business to help our development and growth. The move has facilitated private meetings with staff, clients and customers along with the upper mezzanine technical area, where we can store and test equipment before installation at our client’s premises.
“This allows our day-to-day work area to be left clean and tidy so that the staff enjoy their work environment. It also allows ‘Hugo’, our office dog, more space to do his zoomies and show off!”
Charlie Harkness, commercial estates surveyor at Adderstone Group, who manages Baker’s Yard, added: “It’s great to have The FoodHouse at Baker’s Yard and to see it enjoy success and growth.
“The community of businesses at Baker’s Yard is going from strength to strength, and we’re soon to add a café to the site for the businesses and local residents to enjoy.”
