“Pioneering” veterinary group expands into Stockton with six-figure investment

A recently launched and expanding independent veterinary group has opened its fourth practice this month in Stockton, as part of a £350k investment that has initially created six new jobs in the town.

Harrison Family Vets’ latest practice is located on Durham Road in modern new premises that have been created following the refurbishment and extension of the former Mile House public house.

Local vet Cate Titterton has been appointed as clinic director at the new practice. Additionally, Bekka Barrass and Emily Burton have joined as registered veterinary nurses and will work alongside the front of house care coordinators team of Sam Ractchford and Lyndsey Caveney.

Independent and family-owned, Harrison Family Vets launched in the UK last year with a practice in Woodley, near Reading, and earlier this year it expanded into Kingswinford in the West Midlands and Didsbury near Manchester.

The Stockton practice features an “innovative” waiting area with bespoke pods, which are all spaced at least two metres apart, giving clients their own space and shielding pets from the “stresses of facing other pets”. Each pod has its own screen displaying “pet jokes and facts” as well as information about pet welfare and nutrition.

Other “innovations” include separate dog and cat wards that have been designed with mood lighting, pet-friendly aromas, and music to create a “calming atmosphere”. There are four consulting rooms, a digital X-ray suite that includes dental X-ray facilities, an operating theatre and ultrasonography.

Cate commented: “The level of detail that has gone into every aspect of the design of this practice is phenomenal and it really stands out from the crowd and means we can offer a superb level of customer service and pet care in an unrivalled setting.

“In recent years pet ownership in the UK has skyrocketed and many vets in the local area are closed to new clients. As a result, we’ve been inundated with enquiries from pet owners and our offering has been very well-received.”

Tim Harrison, managing director at Harrison Family Vets, added: “After launching the business in summer 2021, this is our fourth opening and we’ve taken all the best features from our other three locations and incorporated them into Stockton.

“The result is an exceptional and fully pet-friendly practice that offers the highest standards of care in a stress-free environment. When this is combined with Cate’s local knowledge and reputation, there’s no doubt it will become a fantastic asset for pet owners in and around Stockton.”
