New fund opens for supporting London boroughs’ social care innovation

An innovation fund of £200,000 has been launched to support London boroughs design and test new approaches to improving adult social care.

Managed by the London Office of Technology and Innovation (LOTI), the fund will provide up to £100,000 to two projects and is open to submissions from the 24 London boroughs who are LOTI members. The winners will also have access to advice and hands-on assistance from LOTI’s expert team and wider professional networks on issues such as information governance, data analysis, and technology development.

LOTI states that project submissions will need to address one or more of the themes of: better residential and care homes; better care at home; better community support models. Projects will also be expected to involve at least two boroughs and to demonstrate how improved use of technology and data can deliver benefits to Londoners using adult social care services.

Established in 2019, LOTI is hosted by London Councils and supported by the Mayor of London. LOTI’s mission is to help the boroughs collaborate on projects that bring the best of technology, data and innovation to improve public services and outcomes for Londoners.

Eddie Copeland, director of LOTI, said: “This fund is an exciting opportunity to support innovative approaches to delivering adult social care in the capital.

“We’re particularly keen to see projects focused on prevention, that empower residents and social care workers, and encourage collaboration between different sectors or groups. We look forward to seeing the submissions and working with the winners to develop their project next year.”
