Leeds-based Equinox acquired by global intellectual property leaders

Founded and operated in Leeds since 2006, Equinox provides software for intellectual property law firms across the world. The company has grown in recent years, supplying almost 250 organisations in 25 countries.
Questel is one of the world’s most comprehensive providers of technology for intellectual property professionals. Its services encompass the entire innovation and intellectual property life cycle. Equinox, as a provider of an intellectual property management system, will form a key component of Questel’s extensive services.
Equinox, advised by Ward Hadaway, Ahead Business Consulting, and Azets, has grown to be a highly competitive software provider in its market. By joining Questel, the firm hopes to grow its international market share even further.
Charles Besson, Questel’s CEO commented: “Equinox is experiencing strong traction in Europe and we are looking forward to bringing this state-of-the-art solution to law firms around the world. Alongside this acquisition, Questel is on track to become the global leader in the IP Management System market”
The Equinox team is comprised of tech professionals from a variety of disciplines with development, data management, and support specialists. Equinox will continue to operate in Leeds and maintain its full team as it joins Questel.
Sam Nicholson, managing director of Equinox added: “Questel is an ideal organisation for Equinox to join and we’re excited to share knowledge and resources as we continue to grow internationally.
“Equinox has already carved a strong presence in the global IP tech market and by leveraging the technology and services of Questel we expect to better establish ourselves as a market leader while expanding what we can offer to our subscribers.
“We’ve worked closely with the Questel team and we’re confident that we share the same core values. Both organisations take a tech-first approach to IP software, bringing together innovative thinking that will develop advanced, industry-leading solutions.”
With over 20,000 organisations in 30 countries relying on Questel solutions, Equinox has access to a huge new market. This is just the latest example of the wide impact Leeds businesses are having on a variety of international industries. Questel’s acquisition of Equinox marks a vote of confidence in the skill and achievements of hard-working tech professionals across our region.
