Elephant Park welcomes Indian restaurant concept, Kachori
Lendlease has announced that Indian restaurant, Kachori, has signed for a new 2,850 sq ft location on Ash Avenue, adding contemporary Pan-Indian dishes to the rich variety of cuisines available within the heart of Elephant Park.
Headed up by proprietor Sorowar Khan, a highly experienced restaurateur and entrepreneur, the concept has been created and project managed by hospitality consultant Humayun Hussain, who is behind award-winning modern Indian restaurants Bandook in Bath and The Mint Room in Bristol. The interior designer on the project is Annabel Harrison of Fare INC, whose award-winning hospitality designs include Kolamba restaurant in London’s Soho.
Kachori, a modern, casual-dining Indian restaurant, will open at Elephant Park in early 2023. Dishes will include the brand’s signature namesake, Kachori, a contemporary take on Indian street food favourite of deep-fried bread stuffed with moong dal. Also on offer will be breakfast items, Sunday brunch, and a wide range of drinks, including cocktails, craft beers, wines and spirits. With 150 covers, the restaurant will offer both indoor and outdoor seating, opening out onto the destination’s two-acre park.
Guy Thomas, Head of Place Assets at Lendlease, comments: “The signing of Kachori is hugely exciting. As well as being another dynamic addition to Ash Avenue’s premium selection of dining options, it brings a new much-loved cuisine to the area from an experienced hospitality team. As we near completion of the letting for this phase of Elephant Park’s development, and look towards the next phase coming to market in 2023, we’re proud to welcome yet another brand which has a local footprint.”
Sorowar Khan of Kachori, comments: “Elephant Park is an exciting new development in a diverse area of London, and we are very much looking forward to opening our restaurant, introducing visitors to our fresh and innovative take on Indian dining. At Kachori, we pride ourselves on quality of cuisine, service, and experience, and are delighted to bring this to a new space in this buzzing development.” Lendlease is delivering Elephant Park, a £2.5 billion regeneration project in Elephant & Castle, in partnership with Southwark Council. Once complete, it will include over 3,000 homes, 50 new retail and leisure units and 50,000 square feet of workspaces, all centred around a new two-acre park.
The area is emerging as one of South London’s most exciting food and drink hubs and, on Ash Avenue, Kachori will join a comprehensive selection of dining options, including neighbourhood pub The Rosy Hue, Mexican-fusion restaurant and bar Cheeky Chicos, and Korean-Japanese restaurant Kokoro.
