Advanced has appointed Tim Jones as Managing Director of its £30 million Application Modernisation market and will see him take responsibility for the business worldwide, working closely with its teams in Europe and the United States.
Advanced’s Application Modernisation business has seen significant expansion over the past four years with the acquisitions of Information Balance in 2018 and Modern Systems in 2019. The company has completed over 500 successful projects worldwide, most notably handling a major deal with the UK Department for Work & Pensions, modernising 11 critical payment applications including Income Support, State Pension, Job Seekers Allowance and Disability Living Allowance. Some of its other customers in this area include the US Department of Energy, Deutsche Bank and FedEx.
Commenting on the appointment, Gordon Wilson, CEO at Advanced said: “I’m delighted to announce Tim’s new appointment to Managing Director of our Application Modernisation market. He has been an intrinsic part of our growth and success over the past ten years and will provide the strong and strategic leadership needed to drive and accelerate Advanced in this market as we continue to see rapid growth in enterprise digitalisation as organisations invest in modernisation to access Cloud based systems.”
Advanced’s 2022 Mainframe Modernisation Business Barometer Report which surveyed hundreds of enterprise IT leaders spanning the globe, revealed 41% have modernised mainframe workloads within the past year, 90% have done so within the past three years, and 85% are in the process of planning a modernization project or recently completed one - a huge departure from the 11% that undertook modernisation initiatives pre-pandemic.
Tim Jones commented; “I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead our Application Modernisation market especially during such an exciting time where digitalisation is the driving force across the enterprise and we’re seeing huge platform consolidation and migration to the Cloud. Our Application Modernisation offerings enable the move from legacy mainframe systems to modern Cloud environments to future proof those mission-critical applications delivering efficiencies and agility for our customers, giving them a competitive advantage.”
