Scriba PR helps change lives ‘one story at a time’ with £8k charity donation
Huddersfield-based Scriba PR has invested in wordsmiths of the future, with a donation of £8,000 to children’s literacy charity, Grimm & Co.
The award-winning communications agency set about drumming up donations at the start of 2022, with a sizeable target fixed on the day the company celebrated its eight anniversary in business. A jam-packed calendar of fundraising activities included a sponsored silence, creative writing competition, and a hike across the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
Bolstering generous donations from Scriba colleagues, clients, and friends of the business equalling £1,000, Scriba has ‘topped up’ the fund to support the creation of a magical storytelling space among other developments – which will support under-resourced children and young people to develop their literacy skills, at the charity’s base in the heart of Rotherham.
Talking on the opportunity to help nurture budding writing talent, Scriba’s founder and managing director, Katie Mallinson, commented: “As professional communicators, we know all too well the importance of wordsmithery — not only is it a fantastic talent to cultivate, but words hold a power that not everyone fully appreciates.
“We’re thrilled to have supported such a fantastic incentive and we hope that this leads to a great deal of happiness for the children that make use of it. Who knows, perhaps there could be a future Scriba colleague or two in the making!”
Deborah Bullivant, Founding CEO at Grimm & Co, echoed the sentiment shared by Katie, adding: “People don’t always consider language, creativity, and linguistic skills as things that under-resourced young people miss out on. But the lack of opportunity to use their imaginations can really hold them back — both educationally, and in terms of overall wellbeing.
“Providing an inspiring space where these children’s imaginations can run free is such a gift. Thank you to the team at Scriba for your efforts and generosity – it’s an environment that is sure to be well loved and used for years to come.”
Well timed with Giving Tuesday – a global movement that encourages millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity – Scriba’s donation represents a profoundly important investment in the visionary inventors, makers, performers, and artists of tomorrow.
