East Midlands Recruiter Wraps up Milestone Year with Record Turnover

Leading East Midlands recruitment agency, Encore Personnel, is wrapping up one of its most momentous years to date with praise for its team across the region, with an eye to facing candidate shortage challenges head on in 2023.

A landmark 2022 for Encore saw a record turnover of £94m reported, which was followed by the business being acquired by one of the largest recruitment and HR services companies in the world, Gi Group Holding.

Pete Taylor, managing director at Encore, said: “2022 has been an historic year for our business as we flourished and expanded our reach despite a myriad of adverse recruiting conditions.

“To be forecasting a record turnover figure of nearly £100m is not only testament to the ceaseless hard work and dedication of our people across the business’s divisions, but also to the fact that we will always push on to be the very best recruitment partner for our customers old and new.

“The fact that we have joined forces with a forward thinking global presence in Gi Group Holding with ambitious investment and growth plans is indicative of how successful our teams have been over the last 20 years. It was always my preference, should Encore be acquired, that it would be by a world-class recruitment leader in our sector, that shared our vision and cultural values.”

Pete is clear on where he sees the major recruitment challenges coming from over the next 12 months. He said: “Regardless of any kind of recessive period, the employee value proposition should remain critical for organisations in retaining skill and experience, while minimising disruption, through a time where businesses will need to be at their best.

“While some may prioritise cost, we must endeavour to ensure a stable and engaging working environment. As such leaders should regularly communicate and collaborate with their people ‘gauge happiness as a measure of success’ is our core directive as both an employer and a recruiter.”

As has been widely reported across the last few months, the cost-of-living crisis has challenged spending across many industries. As Pete describes, the knock-on effect of the crisis has seen a reduction of production and distribution volumes. As a result, Pete predicts an equally challenging Q1 for 2023, with recruitment freezes and cost cutting likely.

He added: “As a provider of temporary labour, Encore will offer clients support in plugging gaps from the predicted reduction in permanent head count requirements for some part of next year, at least. We’re working very diligently to prepare our customers now for what is down the track, with clear strategies and regular check ins in place to pre-empt any recession driven panic.

“The next year will be tough, but a robust recruitment plan scoped out by our expert consultants will shore up the foundations for businesses to survive and prosper.”

Established in Leicester in 2002, Encore employs more than 200 staff and provides temporary and permanent jobs to the engineering, industrial, driving, energy, manufacturing, managed services and professional services sectors from its HQ in Leicester and branches in Coventry, Birmingham, Derby, Leeds, Peterborough, Northampton, Nottingham, Warrington, Spalding and Telford.
