West Midlands housing developer to double workforce over next 12 months after great success in region

A successful housing developer with 50 years of trading history which has only recently returned to the West Midlands is creating new jobs and expanding its office space as it launches its first development site as part of its new regional operation.

Wain Homes is launching ‘Shropshire Heights’, a 128-home development at Loggerheads near Market Drayton in Staffordshire at the end of the month, after breaking ground on the site earlier this year.

Following this success, the company is set to take further space at its West Midlands base at the Blythe Valley Innovation Centre in Solihull – part of the University of Warwick Science Park – and doubling its team of 15 to 30 over the next 12 months.

The firm’s West Midlands division has existed for less than two years but has seen incredible success in that short time since basing itself at the Innovation Centre, having moved there due to its excellent transport connections and its flexibility around increasing office space within the building.

Bianca Cullis, Head of Sales for Wain Homes West Midlands, said: “We are really excited to be launching Shropshire Heights very soon – it’s a fantastic mix of two, three, four, and five-bed homes which will bring much-needed housing to the area.

“We are also making great progress on sites near Solihull, Alvechurch and Coventry and look forward to launching in the near future.

“We’ve only been back in the region a short time but we’ve got further developments lined up too. The housing industry here is in good health and our quick integration into the market is allowing the business to expand quickly.”

Wain Homes West Midlands will be expanding within Blythe Valley Innovation Centre for the third time since it moved in January 2021 due to how well the team is doing.

Charlotte Worrall, Office Manager at Wain Homes West Midlands, added: “With Wain Homes firmly established in the North West and South West, it made sense for us to enter into the West Midlands market.

“To do that, we needed somewhere suitable to base our team. When we saw Blythe Valley Innovation Centre and the space inside, we felt it ticked many boxes.

“It’s right on the M42 which means our teams can easily access it, and it is never too far away from any of our sites in the region.

“We started off with just a small office when it was just our managing director here, but since then we have taken bigger space twice, and we are all set to move into a further office again.

“I have a great relationship with the Blythe Valley Innovation Centre team, and it’s great to be part of a thriving business community here.”

Andy Stewart, Centre Manager at Blythe Valley Innovation Centre, added: “Wain Homes has done fantastically well since it moved in. “It’s gone from having a very small office to being one of our biggest tenants in terms of floor space in less than two years.

“We are looking forward to welcoming more of their employees to the centre and to help them with any future office expansions as they continue to thrive here.” Andy Peters, Wain Homes Managing Director added: “Our exciting journey is gaining momentum as we start to contribute to the wider Wain Group with our first developments coming to life and our regional team continuing to expand.

“Basing ourselves here has been a great decision for the company. We’re looking forward to filling the vacancies across our departments in the first half of next year when we move into our new space.”
