Sainsbury’s and Starbucks celebrate “fantastic milestone” in partnership
Sainsbury’s and Starbucks are celebrating a new “milestone” with the opening of their 60th Starbucks café in partnership together.
Located inside Sainsbury’s Bicester, Oxfordshire and operated by regional licensee The Magic Bean Company, the new café welcomed its first customers today (Friday, February 3). The opening forms part of a wider expansion plan between Sainsbury’s and Starbucks across the UK.
Elizabeth Newman, Sainsbury’s director of commercial partnership, commented: “We’re delighted to have reached another fantastic milestone with Starbucks as we work together to deliver on our plans to transform our eat-in and takeaway food offer.
“The new cafés have proven to be very popular with Sainsbury’s customers and I know the local community in Bicester has been looking forward to the launch of its new Starbucks this week. We’re excited to bring Starbucks cafés to many more customers as our rollout programme progresses and our partnership continues to thrive.”
Rehan Sardar, director of store development, Starbucks, added: “We are pleased to be opening our 60th instore Starbucks café in Bicester, in partnership with Sainsbury’s.
“This is a great opportunity for customers to meet our team and we look forward to welcoming the local community to enjoy our new dining-in and takeaway moments as we introduce the Starbucks Experience across more Sainsbury’s stores nationwide.”
Starbucks is committed to 100 per cent ethically sourced coffee in partnership with Conservation International. The cornerstone of our ethical sourcing approach to buying coffee is Coffee and Farmer Equity (C.A.F.E.) Practices.
The new store will also offer Too Good To Go, a surplus food app connecting customers to restaurants and stores that have unsold food. The new café is located at Sainsbury’s Bicester, Pioneer Square, Bure Place, Bicester OX26 6FA.
