Housebuilders fund charity packages for Southampton’s vulnerable residents
A charity that helps people in Southampton facing financial hardship has been given £1,500 from Barratt and David Wilson Homes to help fund vital care packages.
SCRATCH relieves the effects of poverty for families and individuals across the region by delivering essential items to those in need.
The incredible charity has been supplying furniture packages to people experiencing extreme financial hardship in the local area for over 20 years. Each package costs £100, so Mike Smith, Operations Manager, said the developers’ support will go a long way.
He said: “This generous donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund will provide 15 packages for families who need our support, enabling them to settle into permanent accommodation and make their house a home.”
The donation was given as part of Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund, which provides support to worthy causes in the region.
Anthony Dimmick, Barratt and David Wilson Homes Community Liaison Manager, Southampton Division, said: “SCRATCH is providing a wonderful service for people experiencing poverty in the community, and when we heard about their work, we had to help. It has been a real pleasure to hand over this donation.”
Founded in 1999, SCRATCH operates several projects across Southampton and surrounding areas, and has since been offering its help to families who are going through the toughest of times.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund is a dedicated financial resource that helps to support local causes which improve the quality of life for those living in the region.
