£6m Bracknell redevelopment to deliver “eye-catching” new flats and create jobs

Plans to transform the site of a vacant office block in a Berkshire town centre into flats have been given the green light.

Permission has been obtained by Flamingo Investment Group for 20 residential apartments across five floors on the site of the former Continuity House building on the A329 London Road in Bracknell. Approval for onsite parking for 22 vehicles, including disabled parking spaces and electric car charging points, has also been given.

Bracknell Forest Borough Council has approved the plans for the £6m redevelopment and accompanying landscaping, which will see the existing structure demolished and replaced with a new one featuring a mix of one, two and three bedroomed apartments.

Designed by architects GUNN, a number of new construction and supply chain jobs could be created once the build out phase gets underway at some future planned date.

Transforming the property into quality residential accommodation will be seen as a welcome addition to the town’s housing provision, according to Nick Kirby, planning director at Lichfields Thames Valley office in Reading, who oversaw planning approval.

He commented: “The development makes use of a tired office building to provide much needed new housing. Planning approval is welcome and the development will provide well located new housing for young, old and families close to the town centre.

Saisha Patel, operations director at Flamingo, added: “The approval will see a great residential development brought forward, providing investment properties for residents. The eye-catching design adds value to the locality, enhancing its overall character while providing new living space on a brownfield site in a sustainable location.”
