Gateshead Metrocentre expands leisure offering with £2.5m “immersive” experience
Treetop Adventure Golf has announced that it will be opening its fifth UK destination at Metrocentre Gateshead this Summer.
The “immersive play” operator is excited to welcome visitors to their extraordinary and immersive mini golf experience. With two unique 18-hole indoor courses to choose from, as well as its Bonus 19th hole, offering all guests the chance to win a free round, the venue is set to offer “plenty to keep everyone entertained”.
After “dodging ancient spirits and discovering wondrous wildlife” on the mini golf tours, travellers are invited to take a seat in The Market and sample tropical cocktails and mocktails from The Thirsty Toucan or grab coffee from the Jungle Buzz Café, both featuring a host of local suppliers.
There will also be free lockers for storing essentials, and a free photobooth where guests can capture a souvenir from their “trip to the jungle”. With an investment of £2.5m, and the creation of more than 20 jobs locally, this is said to be an “exciting addition” for Metrocentre and Gateshead.

Elizabeth Stanway, CEO and co-founder of Treetop Adventure Golf, commented: “We’re really excited to bring our extraordinary and immersive world to life at Metrocentre.
“We believe everyone should have access to wonder and play in their lives. Everyone’s welcome at Treetop, we create joyful places that bring people together and where everyone can be themselves. We can’t wait for our guests to start making treasured memories together at Metrocentre.
Ben Cox of Sovereign Centros, senior asset manager for Metrocentre, added: “We are excited to welcome Treetop Adventure Golf to Metrocentre later this year. Their substantial investment into the site will offer our visitors a completely new and immersive mini golf experience, which will appeal to a broad range of ages.
“The mix of leisure, dining and retail is a key component to the success of Metrocentre so it’s important that we continue to invest and refresh our offer.”
Treetop will be open seven days a week, for everything from family days out to student hangouts, date nights, work get-togethers and celebrations.
