Electric ‘combat karting’ venue launches in Newcastle following seven-figure upgrade

Indoor go-karting company TeamSport has launched Combat Karts as part of its £1.2m Newcastle venue refurbishment, including a brand-new fleet of Sodi RSX2 electric karts.

Launched earlier this month, Combat Karts is described as a “thrilling, hilarious and uniquely interactive” karting experience, where racers complete laps whilst trying to secure bonuses and deter their on-track competitors.

The Combat Karts, which are powered by Game of Karts, is the “first of its kind” in the UK, bringing one of the Nation’s favourite racing video games to life.

Karters can win speed boosts and slow down other racers on the course by driving over the highlighted spots on the track to collect the available bonuses. Played over a series of laps, the winning position of racers changes constantly, adding to the excitement of who will be first when the chequered flag is waved.

Dom Gaynor, CEO of TeamSport, commented: “We are delighted to have launched our first Combat Karts at our newly refurbished Newcastle track. It has always been our mission to provide safe, unique, and exciting experiences and Combat Karts fulfils all those aspirations.

“The ability to introduce a product to the UK that combines all the best parts of video racing games and pairs it with real-life go karting has been incredibly exciting for us.

“It is our hope that the interactive gaming element to the experience will appeal to a variety of people, looking for something new, fun, and different to do with friends, family, and colleagues.”

Combat Karts can be played by anyone over the age of 13, with an inside leg measurement of 29 inches or longer. With plenty of other activities on offer at TeamSport Newcastle, customers can also enjoy their Virtual Reality sets, mini bowling, E-Darts, Century Sim (Racing Simulators) and arcades.
