London based creative agency announces B-Corp status

London based Creative agency, CULT, has announced today its certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.

CULT has been certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards which represent its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.

Founded in 2012, CULT applied for B Corp in early 2022, achieving certification after a lengthy review process and achieving an impact score of 93.7, far higher than the benchmark of 80. CULT is now part of a community of 6,400 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps.

The B Corp community in the UK comprises over 1,200 companies across 58 industries and include well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole.

Recent attention on the Fashion and Beauty industry makes CULT’s B Corp certification a notable step and signals a shift towards greater accountability and transparency in the sector.

Jose Sel de Felipe, head of production and sustainability and B Corp Board Lead at CULT commented: “Achieving BCorp status is one of the proudest moments in our company’s history. We have worked hard to implement sustainable practices across all areas of the agency and were particularly proud that our efforts in the area of people and workers were highlighted for special recognition.

“Achieving BCorp is very much the start of our journey in working towards a future where carbon-neutral creative and production processes are the norm in the industry.”

Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, says: “We are pleased to have B Corps of all shapes and sizes as part of our community from start-ups to multinationals and across many different industries. Business is a powerful force and B Corps demonstrate that you can do good in any sector.

“Welcoming CULT is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the fashion and beauty industry. We and the rest of the B Corp community are really pleased to support CULT in paving the way for a new way of doing things”.

As part of its effort to hold the business accountable to its B Corp commitments, CULT has established a B Corp Committee to maintain its B Corp status and improve its B Corp score.

Headed up by Jose Sel de Felipe, the committee will meet quarterly to review the company’s performance across the five B Corp pillars of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers, with the aim of being the highest scoring creative agency in the UK by 2025.
