Northumberland environmental consultancy moves into larger HQ amid team growth

Environmental consultancy, Biodiverse Consulting, has recently moved to bigger premises to accommodate its rapidly expanding team.

As Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and nutrient neutrality continue to grow in prevalence among many industries the consultancy has been “inundated” with new clients. As a result of this, the business has moved to a larger office at Dissington Hall in Ponteland. Not only will this benefit the existing team of 14, but it also makes room for anticipated future growth.

Founder and director Vicki Mordue, commented: “We are simply delighted to be moving into a bigger office. Turnover has tripled in the three years we have been in operation and it’s great to be able to invest back into our team and our premises.

“Another exciting element of the move is that it brings with it the possibility of broadening our services offering. We’ve recently welcomed Mike Gray to the team as a principal ecologist, but he also has a wealth of experience in the solar industry.

“A physically bigger space makes room for exploring additional ecology services as well as consultancy in the field of renewable energy. We have big and bold ambitions, but right now, we’re focussing on bringing in more experienced ecologists, as we buckle up for BNG becoming a legal requirement.”

On his recent appointment, Mike added: “A career move was something I knew I needed after working freelance for some time before joining Biodiverse Consulting. As a principal ecologist, I have a wealth of experience and really enjoy complex projects and upskilling the team, however, I am also learning a lot.

“I’d describe working with Vicki as refreshing. She’s a true professional with a real passion for protecting the natural environment. I’m really looking forward to seeing the consultancy’s continued growth and with new environmental policies in the pipeline, we have a busy future ahead and need more people to be able to meet the demands of clients.”

Dana Cherlin also joined the team recently as a graduate ecologist. She said: “I am so excited to be at Biodiverse Consulting. The team has been so welcoming and I have already learned so much. I was attracted to the entrepreneurial ethos of the business as well as the culture of continued professional development. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

The recent environmental roadmap published by the Government is also likely to have a significant effect on the demand of Biodiverse Consulting’s services as two of the roadmap main components involve restoring wildlife habitats and bettering water quality.

Biodiverse Consulting was founded in 2019 to help companies in the built environment sector achieve sustainable and responsible development. It has a range of clients, including Dysart Developments, Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, Gleeson Regeneration Ltd, Pegasus, and The Wildlife Trusts.
