Sheffield's tech start-up ecosystem targeted by American-Israeli investment company
American-Israeli investment company, Arieli Capital, is visiting Sheffield tomorrow as it considers creating joint projects with tech-sector start-ups and scale-ups, building strong relationships across the city and South Yorkshire region.
The visit on Thursday 23 March has been organised by law firm Irwin Mitchell after representatives from the firm met with the business on a recent visit trip to Tel Aviv.
Arieli Capital’s co-founder and managing partner, Eric Bentov, and Partner and Head of Innovation, Or Haviv, are keen to work with the local tech community and have asked Irwin Mitchell to coordinate a visit to the main University tech hubs, accelerators, incubators, and innovation centres in and around the city.
In partnership with Sheffield Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA), Irwin Mitchell will take Mr Bentov to visit the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and Factory 2050; the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre on the Olympic Legacy Park; and the Digital Media Centre in Barnsley.
Eric Bentov said: “Arieli Capital is delighted to visit and learn about Sheffield’s innovation ecosystem and explore local opportunities. We have seen the tremendous growth of the startup scene in recent years in the region and we are very excited to explore participation in the innovation and investment side of it.
“Sharing our unique approach and years of past performance can add lots of value to the local ecosystem and the economy in the area.”
Debbie Serota, partner & head of the Israel desk at Irwin Mitchell, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Sheffield’s thriving digital and technology sector. Arieli Capital recognises the city’s deep roots in manufacturing and innovation and is keen to find out more about its start-ups and tech incubators, as well as international manufacturers and two world-class universities.
“The digital and technological revolution presents a real opportunity for investment into the region and we are delighted to play a role in helping facilitate this.”
Arieli Capital, established in 2016, is a premier US-based holding and investment company with offices in the USA, the UK, and Israel. Arieli Capital has an active portfolio of impact-based technology companies that includes Powerful Medical, Orbital IQ, and Diamante.
