Fundraiser at Whelprigg House to Support Local Cancer Research
Henry Bowring, a local Barbon man, will open the doors of his Grade II listed home, Whelprigg House in Kirkby Lonsdale, this Spring to raise funds for local cancer charity, North West Cancer Research.
Henry will once again host his popular garden open day alongside the Barbon and District fundraising Committee for the Charity. Together they will welcome guests from the local community to explore the extensive woodland and gardens while daffodils are in full bloom.
Whelprigg House is a William IV country house in Jacobethan style, and occupies a prominent position overlooking the Lune Valley, with picturesque views to the West.
The Committee will serve tea and coffee to guests, as well as host a raffle, bric-a-brac stall and sell fresh homemade cakes.
Alastair Richards, CEO of North West Cancer Research said: “It’s great to have Henry on board for another year of fundraising alongside the Barbon and District Committee. The open gardens event at Whelprigg House is always so popular and a lovely way to welcome in the warmer months, with such beautiful scenery.
“We know the Committee, along with Henry, will put on a stellar event once again and we wish them the best of luck with their fundraising.”
Whelprigg House Open Garden Event will take place from 2pm on Saturday 15th April. Entry is £4 and includes a complimentary hot drink and cake or scone.
All funds raised by the event will go to North West Cancer Research, a local, independent charity dedicated to putting the region’s cancer needs first by focusing on the types of cancer that affect people living across the North West the most. With world-class projects at nearby Lancaster University, the Charity funds pioneering research and education to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer.
