Quantum Pharmaceutical creates local jobs in county Durham
Following the success of last year’s Recruitment Academy, Burnopfield based Quantum Pharmaceutical have partnered with Derwentside College and Job Centre Plus, to deliver the Quantum Manufacturing Academy once again.
This two-week bespoke academy was designed in conjunction with Quantum Pharmaceutical to provide local people with the skills and training required to secure Production Assistant roles within the company. The academy provided candidates with industry relevant training whilst giving them an insight into what it’s like to work for the pharmaceutical organisation.
This targeted, employer-led approach to training meant that candidates were best placed to move into employment, resulting in 8 of the 10 candidates interviewed receiving offers of employment.
This is a huge success for all involved, JCP manager, Simone Absalom said, “The Quantum Manufacturing Academy is a great opportunity for our customers to move into sustainable employment with a fantastic employer.
“The strong working relationship between Job Centre Plus and Derwentside College allows us to give local people the skills to move into the manufacturing sector. At a time when unemployment rates are at a record low it is more vital than ever to think innovatively about recruitment the Recruitment Academy model does just that.”
HR recruitment & HR coordinator, Quantum Pharmaceutical, Gillie Jopling said “Working with Derwentside College allows us to source local talent from our community, building upon the vital skills they have received in the employability course and creating a sustainable workforce for Quantum’s future growth.”
