Rounton Coffee Roasters launch home compostable specialty coffee pods

Independent coffee roaster, Rounton Coffee Roasters, based in North Yorkshire has launched its first-ever line of sustainable specialty coffee pods.

The award-winning coffee roaster, known for its responsibly sourced, quality coffee, has developed fully compostable coffee pods that replicate the same quality and roast profiles of its three most popular coffees; The Rich Roast, Sparkling Water Decaf and Rwamatamu.

The artisan coffee roaster has launched certified home compostable coffee pods in response to customer requests and continues to innovate its offering to continue to make specialty coffee accessible.

David Beattie, founder and director said: “Adding coffee pods to our range of products has been on our agenda for a long time. It was important that our coffee pods replicated the same quality as our existing products, and we have spent the last 12 months developing the process to meet our high standards.

“As a company, we place a high value on sustainability and do our best to reduce waste. It was crucial for us to create coffee pods that are genuinely home-compostable, compromising on this was not an option. Our aim is to provide a more sustainable choice for our customers, while also helping to reduce single-use waste.”

The Nespresso-compatible coffee pods are 100% organic and fully biodegradable, designed to completely degrade within six months when disposed of in your home compost. Certified by TÜV AUSTRIA, the coffee pods will decompose in food waste bins or wherever they are disposed of, compared to aluminium pods which are difficult to recycle and plastic pods that take hundreds of years to break down.

Rounton Coffee Roasters, launched in 2013, has become a household name supplying coffee to over 200 outlets across the UK, selling direct to customers and has coffee shops in Middlesbrough and Norton. Rounton works with farmers all over the world to source responsibly and work with producers and importers who are invested in the future of the coffee industry.

Since 2021, Rounton Coffee Roasters have planted 7630 trees and provided £1526 towards projects to help the farming communities and protect the environment of Rwenzoris.

Customers can find the new line of coffee pods sold in packs of 10 for £6.50 and packs of 100 for £45 at www.rountoncoffee.co.uk , Rounton Coffee Houses in Middlesbrough and Norton, and their Amazon store.
