North East Engineering Firm Expands Team Following Project Wins Totalling Seven Figures
A North East engineering firm has bolstered its team with five new appointments after securing an order book totalling more than £3 million over the next twelve months.
Northern Engineering Solutions welcomed Hammed Shittu, Gary Pendleton, Trudi Harrison, Christopher Rutherford, and Michael Anderson in the first quarter of 2023. The North Shields firm has recently won a series of innovative projects for organisations, including the RAF, Pragmatic and CPI. It specialises in mechanical, electrical and process engineering (MEP) solutions, with a particular focus on high and ultra-high-purity process pipework, effluent treatment systems, and cleanrooms.
Speaking about the latest additions to the business, Mark Davey, Founder and Managing Director, said: “This is an exciting period of growth for Northern Engineering Solutions. To ensure we can continue supporting organisations at the forefront of innovation, we recognised the need to augment our existing team by adding new staff who bring complementary skills to the business. We want to extend a warm welcome to Hammed, Gary, Trudi, Christopher, and Michael.”
Joining in the role of Engineering Manager, Gary Pendleton has a wealth of experience across diverse industries, including heavy construction, sub-contract engineering, and the oil and gas industry. He holds a BSc Honours in Engineering and has worked in several leadership positions in international markets.
Hammed Shittu takes up the position of Mechanical Engineer following a successful career spanning more than ten years. Prior to his appointment at Northern Engineering Solutions, he worked as a Senior Project Engineer for a consultancy specialising in mechanical, electrical, and piping engineering. Hammed brings expertise in 3D modelling and design for MEP solutions, which will also add value to existing and new clients.
Strengthening the business’s administrative team, Trudi Harrison has come aboard as Financial Controller. She will oversee the company’s day-to-day financial operations using her in-depth knowledge of accounting systems and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
At the turn of the year, Michael Anderson joined as Foreman to supervise project delivery onsite. He has attained vast experience over 15 years working as a pipe fitter and fabricator. Michael also recently passed his Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Supervisor course.
Pipefitter, Christopher Rutherford, enters his new role following 12 years as Facilities Operative for CBRE in County Durham. He holds several NVQ-level qualifications in plumbing, heating and mechanical engineering services and an IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
In addition to the new appointments, Northern Engineering Solutions continue to invest in developing future talent. James Nicholson, from North Tyneside, recently completed his four-year apprenticeship with the business and now takes up a permanent position as a pipefitter. Graduates Joe Davey and Lucy Davey, are also taking up full-time roles. Joe recently completed his degree in Mechanical Design Engineering, while Lucy has a BSc in Environmental Science from Northumbria University.
Speaking about the business’s passion for supporting the next generation of engineers, Director, Simon Taylor added: “We have always invested heavily in developing future engineering talent right here in the North East. We believe it is critical to creating a sustainable business, where more experienced staff members can transfer knowledge to those just entering the sector.”
