Dufaylite becomes carbon neutral and FSC certified
As the world is focused on climate change on a global scale, St-Neots based, sustainable manufacturer Dufaylite has fully committed to cutting its own carbon footprint, after becoming a Carbon Neutral Business and achieving FSC status, marking a great start to the year.
The partnership with (TAG) Carbon Neutral Britain, will see the manufacturer measure and offset its carbon footprint, in a continual commitment to the environment.
The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) forest management certification supports Dufaylite’s commitment to responsible forestry and makes them the only honeycomb producer in the UK to achieve the status.
These accolades further underpin Dufaylite’s commitment to the environment and comes hot on the heels of them becoming the only honeycomb provider in the world to have secured the AA BRCGS Global Food Safety Standard in 2022.
Ashley Moscrop, Managing Director of Dufaylite, commented; “I am delighted to have started the year so positively. We are now officially and purposefully making the decision and commitment to the environment as a business and promise to offset all carbon emissions ongoing. Our journey to being Carbon Neutral and own our carbon agenda has just begun.
“As a business we didn’t feel it was enough to just manufacture a product that is sustainable, we are fully committed to the environment and reducing our overall impact in every way possible. Looking ahead, we will continue to evolve, and our next commitment is to switch to renewable energy sources by the end of 2023.”
Further complimenting Dufaylite’s environmentally led approach is its partnership with Premier who act as exclusive distribution partner for Ultra Board in the UK. Premier runs a Carbon Capture® programme which allows clients to mitigate the CO₂ emissions from the production and distribution of paper and materials purchased. As part of this, Ultra Board now has Carbon Capture® included and any sales of the substrate will support the work of the Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity.
Dufaylite Group is the sole UK manufacturer of recycled paper honeycomb – a 100% recyclable, robust and versatile core material that has become an innovation in the print and signage industry and is used in many industrial applications.
As major suppliers to the retail, manufacturing, and construction industries with its range of products including packaging solution Envirolite and Clayboard which acts as a sustainable void filler alternative in the construction industry, Dufaylite now exports to Europe, Australia and the US. Established in 1955, Dufaylite has a 2.5-acre site near Cambridge employing 40 staff. The business is ISO 9001 – Quality, ISO 14001 - Environmental and ISO 45001 - Health & Safety accredited.
