Hatch opens its nest to aspiring creative talent

Following a successful pilot year, Leeds headquartered creative communications agency, Hatch, has opened applications for its paid Fledglings programme – a unique internship placement, open to everyone over the age of 16, regardless of experience.

The successful intern will receive first-hand experience across a range of disciplines, gaining insight into the world of PR, social media, events, production and design.

From food and drink to sport and leisure, the Hatch client roster includes a range of household names such as Hisense, Nationwide, Remington and Wensleydale Creamery, which interns will gain experience in from day one.

The Fledgling programme offers a tailored year-long paid internship in a fast-paced environment, with support from a mentor and a training package to learn on the job. There’s no minimum experience requirement for applying – Hatch will be looking for passionate and ambitious individuals who can bring creativity to the role.

Megan Fogg, current Fledgling at Hatch, commented: “As someone who knew nothing about PR when I applied for the Fledglings internship, I can’t emphasise enough how engaging and exciting an experience my time at Hatch has been.

“Thanks to the support of the whole team, I’ve been able to flourish in what was, initially, a very unfamiliar role, working on some amazing campaigns, with some household-name clients, and really carving out my own place within the company.

“The skills and the friendships that I’ll take from the past year are invaluable, as well as the confidence I’ve gained in my own abilities. To any prospective Fledglings – if you’ve got your creative thinking cap on, you’ll do just fine!”

Helen Simpson, performance and development director at Hatch, added: “Fledglings was inspired by our commitment to increasing inclusivity and diversity in the industry, starting with removing barriers to gaining valuable work experience.

“We’re passionate about developing future talent and giving talented and creative individuals the chance to develop CV-able skills, regardless of background, life stage or qualifications. Fledglings provides that important ‘foot in the door’ that can lead to further opportunities, and we will be recruiting based on passion for the industry, as well as creativity, ambition and drive.”
