New App Launches To Help Parents Manage the Mental Load
An entrepreneur and mum of two from Yorkshire has created and launched a new web-based App, designed to help parents and carers manage the mental load. Parent List is focused on promoting positive mental health and mental wellbeing, offering practical parent-first support by enabling users to access hundreds of FREE helpful checklists to help calm the chaos of day-to-day parenting.
With over 15 years’ experience in Digital Marketing Strategy and Digital Development, Chloe has become a Post Natal Depression and Mental Health Advocate and has spent the last three years bringing her vision to life.
Aimed at parents and carers of children aged 0-5, the interactive list-based helpful content is written by experts across many categories, including sleep and behaviour, childcare, activities, food, mental health, and self-care, all of which are provided in an easily digestible, interactive and simple to understand and use format.
Parent List is inclusive of all styles of parenting and childcare. It aims to provide a space for parents and carers to download the lists in their head, to help with the constant juggle of the mental load and overwhelm, to provide inspiration when tiredness gets in the way, and to offer helpful resources when a little help or support is required. Here to help all parents feel confident and reassured that they’re not alone.
Chloe explains; “The idea for Parent List began three years ago. My early research highlighted that parents today, many of whom would be considered millennials, are more likely to reach out to a digital community than their own parents for advice and support. We’re spending more time than ever on our phones and digital communities are growing by the day. Staggeringly, more than 1 in 10 women are likely to develop a mental illness during and after pregnancy nowadays – not forgetting how this can also affect dads - and support is most definitely still needed to navigate the highs and lows of modern-day parenting.
“The pressure on us all today is extreme, and the mental load and juggle is most certainly real. As a parent, and a senior woman in business, I know how easy it is to struggle with even the smallest of tasks when juggling work, family life, relationships, and my own mental health. This is why I understand the difficulties and challenges of parenting first hand and created Parent List to support others.
“Parent List promotes the importance of positive mental health. Our content is focused on helping parents to manage the mental load of parenting through simple steps, from everyday tasks to big decisions. Our team of experts have been carefully selected to provide useful ideas and support, to help navigate the journey that is parenting, whilst caring for themselves along the way with some great self-help ideas too.
“It is important to say that we are here to provide support, not advice. Parenting is not a one size fits all solution. All children are different, and we all have our own beliefs and ways of doing things. We all need more time, we all need more headspace, and we all get parent guilt. Sometimes it feels like it’s just part and parcel of being a parent, but it doesn’t have to be. It is impossible to look after others before we look after ourselves which is why self-care is so vital. Life is busy, it can most certainly be stressful and so Parent List has been created to help.”
