Breaking the Stigma: How a Care Home's Dementia Workshop is Changing Lives
Dementia is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide, and its impact is often felt not only by the individual but also by their loved ones. It can be challenging for family members and friends to come to terms with a person’s dementia, and they may not know how to provide the best possible care and support.
Fortunately, Edendale Lodge Care Home is hosting a dementia workshop for families and friends on Thursday, June 1st, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. This event is an opportunity for attendees to learn from an expert and gain valuable knowledge and advice on understanding and managing a person’s dementia.
Our guest speaker, Chris Elsley, from Forget Me Not Dementia Training, will be sharing her expertise on dementia care. Chris is a highly experienced trainer with a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in caring for people with dementia. Attendees can expect to learn valuable tips and strategies for caring for their loved ones with dementia, including how to communicate effectively, manage challenging behaviours, and create a safe and supportive environment.
Zoe Kendall, Manager at Edendale Lodge Care Home Says: “The dementia workshop promises to be an informative and engaging evening, filled with valuable information, practical tips, and the opportunity to connect with others affected by dementia. Whether you are a family member, friend, or caregiver, this event is not to be missed.”
The event will be held at Edendale Lodge Care Home, located just outside of Battle in Crowhurst. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and socialise with other families and friends of residents, creating a supportive community that can help enhance the quality of life for all those affected by dementia.
To make the evening even more enjoyable, a cheese and wine supper will be provided. Attendees can relax, chat with others, and enjoy delicious refreshments while learning together.
Join Edendale Lodge’s on Thursday, June 1st, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, and take the first step towards enhancing the quality of life for your loved ones with dementia. Call 01424 830295 to book your space.
