Fat Hippo announces opening of “amazing” new restaurant in London’s West End

Fat Hippo, the independent restaurant group, has announced the opening date of their brand new restaurant in the heart of London’s West End.

The company, who specialise in ‘roll up your sleeves and get it all over your face’ food, will open their latest site on Wardour Street, Soho on Friday June 9. Fat Hippo Soho will boast over 100 covers and table bookings are available now via their website.

This will be Fat Hippo’s 17th nationwide location and second in London, following the success of its Shoreditch restaurant which opened last October. The group has “major expansion plans” with several other sites also in negotiations for 2023 and beyond.

Michael Phillips, the company’s Managing director, who founded Fat Hippo in the North East in 2010, commented: “The countdown for Fat Hippo Soho is officially on! We’re thrilled to be opening our doors on Friday June 9.”

“Since our successful opening in Shoreditch, we have been focussed on looking for other locations in the city and Soho was top of our list, it has an amazing neighbourhood feel to it.”

The family friendly burger joint, famed for its “quality ingredients and quirky flavours”, offers a full menu of signature beef and buttermilk chicken burgers, which come with free hand-cut chips as standard. A wide range of vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal chicken options are also available, as well as a great value build-your-own kids menu.

The group’s signature tangy namesake sauce is also a firm fan favourite and can be found on their signature burger the ‘Fat Hippo’, (a double beef burger topped with American cheese, smoked bacon, chorizo, onion rings and Fat Hippo sauce) alongside more classics.

Michael Johnson, the company’s operations director, added: “We’re so excited to be opening in Soho. There is already a brilliant food scene here and it’s great to now be a part of it. We can’t wait for everyone to enjoy ‘the good kind of gluttony’ at our newest location.”
