Business of Science Conference Announces Four Headline Speakers

The Business of Science Conference is proud to announce its line-up of headline speakers ahead of this year’s event. The conference, which is headline sponsored by the University of Salford, will bring together professionals from the worlds of science, innovation, and business, taking place on 18 May 2023 at Cloth Hall Court, Leeds.

The four headline speakers who will share their insights and experiences at the conference are:

Tom Riordan CBE, Chief Executive at Leeds City Council – Chief Executive of Leeds City Council since 2010, Tom has overseen a significant transformation of the Council and the city. Tom will open the conference, welcoming delegates to Leeds and introducing the city as the centre for science and innovation.

Indro Mukerjee, CEO at Innovate UK – A highly experienced technology CEO and business leader with a track record of leading innovation and technology commercialisation in businesses of all sizes across the world. Indro will keynote on the serious innovation possibilities in the UK.

Sir Jonathan Van-Tam, Pro Vice Chancellor at University of Nottingham - Prof Van-Tam is a global expert on the prevention and control of respiratory virus diseases, pandemic preparedness and response, and public health policy for vaccines and antiviral drugs. The 2022 winner of the Business of Science Special Recognition in Leadership Award, Prof Van-Tam will keynote on the importance of leadership during COVID-19, providing real-life examples in leading within science and innovation.

Kully Thiarai, Creative Director and CEO at Leeds 2023 - Kully has spent her 30+ year career changing systems and structures in the arts world that are barriers to inclusion. Kully will guest speak on the vital role culture and art must play on driving innovation by inspiring creativity and challenging traditional thinking.
