AEGEAN adds even more flights from Newcastle International Airport
Greece’s flagship carrier, AEGEAN, is already scaling up its operation at Newcastle International Airport with additional flights now on sale to Athens, Greece.
Flights between Newcastle and Athens will begin on the 14th June, and thanks to strong demand Newcastle Airport’s newest airline partner has decided to extend its summer flying schedule up until the 25th October – providing more opportunity for the North East travelling public to visit this brand new destination.
Leon McQuaid, director of aviation development at Newcastle International Airport said: “We are delighted that AEGEAN has chosen to invest in the North East with direct flights to Athens and beyond. With only a month to go until the route commences, it is great to see that the positive sales performance so far has resulted in AEGEAN taking the decision to add another four weeks of flights, right up until the end of October.
“The route provides a fantastic opportunity for those wishing to visit Athens on a short city break or a longer holiday. Equally, passengers can connect via Athens onto AEGEAN’s extended network of Greek islands as well as further afield including wider Europe and the Middle East.”
Named as the ‘Best Regional Airline in Europe’ for 11 consecutive years at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, AEGEAN will provide direct flights to Athens every Wednesday and Sunday.
Greece is one of the North East’s most popular holiday destinations. Regarded as Europe’s most historic city, Athens offers a range of spectacular sights, landmarks and museums.
