Historic Preesall church with planning consent to go under the hammer with £145,000 guide price
The former Bethel United Reformed church in Preesall, between Lancaster and Blackpool, is to be put up for auction next month, with planning consent for conversion to a five-bedroom home.
The former church on Lancaster Road, dates back to 1835 and in the 1930s its minister was the Reverend Daniel Baldwin, whose daughter Mary went on to become the wife of Labour prime minister Harold Wilson.
The property, which stands on a 0.2 acre plot, will appear in auction house Pugh’s online property auction on 20 June with a guide price of £145,000.
Edward Feather, associate director at Pugh, said: “This building is full of character, with lots of original features, and would make an ideal purchase for a developer looking for their next project. Planning permission is already in place for the conversion of the church and its more modern extension into a five-bedroom home with associated amenity space.
“The property boasts a fantastic location close to coast, countryside and the Wyre estuary, with Lancaster just 10 miles away to the north and Blackpool six miles to the south.”
Bidding on the former church, and the other lots in Pugh’s online auction, opens on 20 June and closes the following day. To view the full catalogue, go to www.pugh-auctions.com
