Can an app coach you to success? An entrepreneur who’s lost and made multi-millions through business believes so

Angela McKillop, 42, from Glasgow, who previously spent 10 years building up a £multimillion business in the construction industry with her husband, to lose it all in 2016, has lived the devastation of losing something she’d sacrificed a lot for and is on a mission to play her part in supporting other entrepreneurs who may be struggling.

She is passionate about playing her part in moving the dial on statistics, such as data from Genome claiming the failure rate for start ups is 60% (9th March 2023) and research from (Entrpreneur.com) citing that 72% of entrepreneurs report having mental health concerns and that in 2020 11,000 business people died from suicide – a 29% increase from 2019 (National crime records Bureau).

As a 7 figure entrepreneur and best selling author, who is more likely to binge watch self-development trainings and plug into business growth podcasts than tune into the latest soaps and dramas; Angela has created a new kind of content on demand service, after investing thousands into this passion project, paying it forward for other entrepreneurs.

Following the desire for ‘always on’ content, creating bite-sized teachings to be consumed from anywhere in the world, Angela has set out to provide a service for the younger version of herself whose £multi-million business came crashing down in 2016. Now running two successful businesses, which turnover 7 figures, Angela has drawn upon both her successes and failures, to package up business growth strategies, goal tracking, personal development AND community in GrowthFlix, a first of its kind app for business owners who want business growth advice, accountability and self-development coaching.

Angela experienced feelings of shame and embarrassment when everything came crashing down for her in 2016, feeling like she had completely lost her life purpose. The worry about what other people were saying and the constant fear of bumping into someone she knew became so stressful that she isolated herself more and more. With her new business she now has a projected turnover of £10million in the next 3 years, but is passionate about doing it on her terms.

She shared: “I see people approach business differently. You have the people who work every hour under the sun, their sole purpose is business and everything that comes with it. They miss family gatherings, they don’t have a social life but even worse they don’t look after themselves because they “Don’t have time.” They are at huge risk of burnout and health issues. I’ve seen those people who have dedicated their whole life to building a business that when it finally sells or reaches a point they were striving for , they become lost, depressed even. They don’t know what to do because their whole life has been dedicated to one purpose.

“At the opposite end are the people who have a business and they don’t put the effort in that is required. They will complain about not getting enough clients, they say they want to grow but they don’t invest the time and money into making it happen. They work minimum hours and wonder why their business has been in the same position for years.

“There’s a happy medium in there somewhere. When you’re working on the business it’s important to focus on the deep meaningful work that will have an impact. Give your all , seek out opportunities and commit 100% to your business goals. On the flip side make sure you are getting enough sleep, fresh air, fuel your body and take time out to recharge. You will know when you find the balance that works for you.”

GrowthFlix, which is free to download on the Apple app store and Google Play Store, covers topics including: ways to get more clients and create loyal repeat clients, productivity hacks and easy growth strategies, advice on how to utilise the power of the mind for success and how to make better decisions to win at life AND business - and importantly offers guidance and strategies that cost nothing.

It draws upon Angela’s own strategies and formulas, that she credits her successes to, that has helped thousands of businesses transform and reach levels their owners didn’t think was possible. Her methods incorporate her qualifications as a Performance Coach, NLP practitioner.

Within the app Angela also shares her biggest mistakes in business and lessons learnt from losing 7 figures, as well as earning it, and she hosts resources to tools that have helped her find balance, such as guided meditations, to help other busy business owners reset.

Offering personal and business growth strategies in the form of video training and downloadable templates the app is focused on helping people to grow their business at their own pace, driven by Angela’s mission to make business growth simple for ambitious business owners and it has already been described as ‘The must have membership for all business owners.’

Angela said: “In 2016 my £multimillion turnover business collapsed after 10 years. After going through an awful and challenging grieving process I realised that I wanted to help as many business owners as possible not make the same mistakes that I did. It was simple mistakes collectively that lead to the failure of the business. I wanted to share my learnings, without the need for a high ticket price tag, and so the app was born. Some of the business owners that have implemented these strategies have described them as life changing and found them to be invaluable!”

“I don’t want anyone to go through what I did. I feel that what I went through has served a massive purpose. I love the fact that my awful experience has helped and will help many more business owners. I hope I can have an impact on the business failure statistics.”

“My advice to business owners is to get support in any way possible. Surround yourself with other business owners. It’s a game changer in terms of how you feel, how you solve problems and what you learn. I want people to know that business doesn’t need to be a struggle. It looks like everyone knows exactly what they are doing – they don’t. If you’re growing you will never be in full control or know everything there is to know - we just need to realise that this is normal.”
