UK specialty coffee roaster joins 1% for the Planet movement
Rounton Coffee Roasters announces today it has joined the global movement, 1% for the Planet, solidifying its commitment to environmental causes by pledging to donate 1% of its annual sales.
The award-winning North Yorkshire-based roastery, renowned for its sustainably sourced specialty coffee, continues to lead with an ethical approach. With a strong emphasis on fostering close relationships with farmers and producers, the company is driven to make specialty coffee more accessible, while prioritising sustainability and waste reduction.
1% for the Planet, founded by Yvon Chouinard and Craig Mathews in 2002, is a global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions through annual membership and everyday actions.

Rounton Coffee Roasters, launched in 2013, has become a household name supplying coffee to over 200 outlets across the UK, selling directly to customers and has coffee shops in Middlesbrough and Norton. Collaborating with farmers worldwide, the company responsibly sources its coffee, working hand in hand with producers and importers who are invested in the future of the coffee industry.
In the past two years, Rounton Coffee Roasters has been actively committed to its ESG responsibility, making a significant difference in environmental preservation. They’ve planted 7,630 trees and have generously provided £1,526 to support farming communities and protect the region of Rwenzoris.
