World famous automotive firm opens Warwick office
A world-famous automotive company has opened an office in Warwick to be closer to the regional supply chain.
Continental, which is best-known across the globe for the manufacture of tyres, has taken space at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Innovation Centre on the Warwick Technology Park.
The company, which employs around 200,000 people worldwide, develops pioneering technologies and services for sustainable and connected mobility of people and their goods.
Founded in 1871, the technology company offers safe, efficient, intelligent and affordable solutions for vehicles, machines, traffic and transportation, crucial to the ongoing development of driverless vehicles. The new office in Warwick will be utilised predominantly for the company’s customer facing team in the region to service major clients based in the area, such as Jaguar Land Rover.
Nasreen Djema, of Continental, said: “Our first motivation to move to the region was to be close to our client-base. Warwickshire and the wider area has a very strong automotive sector and we wanted to have an office at the heart of that. “We are a forward-thinking, innovative company and we wanted an office that reflected that, which made the Warwick Innovation Centre perfect.
“There are other companies based here that work in the same field, which is exciting, and we also have opportunities to grow within the building over the coming years. “The team at the Science Park have given us a really positive welcome and we look forward to a bright future here.”
Continental joins 40 other tenants at the Warwick Innovation Centre, which offers flexible space for businesses to be able to expand quickly. The University of Warwick Science Park also offers a range of support to companies – from links to the University of Warwick through to offering advice on how to access new markets and funding.
Jane Talbot, manager of the Warwick Innovation Centre, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Continental to the Science Park. “We are home to a range of businesses in automotive technology and Continental really are at the forefront of the industry.
“Having a major international brand choose us as its base in the region is a huge testament to what we offer and we will do everything we can to support the growth of the company’s office in Warwick.”
