Teesside based Latrix Ltd win funding to develop innovative renewable tech
Teesside based Laytrix Ltd, a business developing novel environmental marine technologies for the offshore renewables, marine and oil & gas sectors is delighted to announce its success in the Launchpad, Net Zero, Tees Valley Competition after winning funding from Innovate UK for further development of its patented technologies.
Its application for a Floating Wind Tendon Installation System will allow the design and development of a prototype to facilitate the cost effective installation of tendon mooring systems for floating offshore wind turbines.
The bid was deemed novel and of interest to the regions goal of exploiting the global opportunities in the offshore wind supply chain with accessors advising it was “a detailed innovation that improves on state of the art and would deliver towards Net Zero objectives while providing an economic gain to the Tees Valley area.”
Founder and CEO Andrew Stevenson commented “that the project is now well underway and is building upon our patents for installation and recovery of steel catenaries and the business is excited to adapt them for use in the offshore renewables sector, further underlining our application of innovative engineering for the benefit of the environment.”
The Darlington headquartered business is already looking at increasing headcount to support the project alongside other work and will be looking to engage with the Teesside supply chain to help deliver the prototype build.
Stevenson added that the business will be providing updates on its progress over the coming months ahead of a potential funding round later in the year.
