County Durham recruitment firm expands into Europe with new office launch
Specialist science and sustainable technology recruitment firm Populus Select has opened an office in Germany having secured a strong pipeline of work in the pharmaceutical industry in the country.
Populus, which is headquartered in Darlington, is also working with a number of firms on the continent in the science, technology, engineering and specialist manufacturing sectors, providing recruitment, research and business development services.
Exports, or overseas recruitment, account for around 40 per cent of Populus’s turnover and over the last two years have seen “significant growth”, creating the need for a permanent physical presence abroad.
Sim Hall, founder and managing director of Populus Select, said: “International demand for highly-skilled science and engineering-based roles is at an all-time high.
“There is huge competition, not only between organisations in need of employees, but also between countries looking to attract businesses working in exciting industries of the future, like life sciences and green technology, to make their home there.
“Populus continues to go from strength-to-strength. As science-based industries grow and flourish, so too does our client roster, both at home and abroad. Last year we had record revenue, and I expect this new office will help us to maintain that momentum and continue to grow.”
