Seraphim Space to expand multi-billion pound portfolio with latest accelerator

London based Seraphim Space, known as Generation Space in the US, which runs a dedicated accelerator for global startups in the SpaceTech industry, has opened its applications for its 12th cohort (Mission 12).

Seraphim Space and Generation Space are “thrilled” to have Leidos, a FORTUNE 500 technology, engineering and science solutions and services specialist working to solve the world’s toughest challenges in the defence, intelligence, civil and health markets, on board as a new sponsor.

This sponsorship brings added benefit to the “pioneering” companies taking part in Mission 12. The accelerator is a three-month programme that supports SpaceTech companies from inception to IPO.

Through the programme, the cohort will have the opportunity to develop key relationships with “some of the world’s leading” corporates and agencies operating in the space sector as the startups look to raise capital to commercialise their technology.

The cohort will be joining an “impressive” alumni of over 100 SpaceTech companies who have collectively raised over $2.2bn (approx. £1.7bn) in funding and have an enterprise value of more than $10bn (£7.7bn).

86 per cent of companies that go through the accelerator raise within 12 months, and 93 per cent of companies have been successfully funded, with the average post-accelerator raise being $4m (£3.1m).

The accelerator’s “unique” position at the epicentre of the new space ecosystem attracts startups from all over the world. Mission 12 is expanding Seraphim’s global offering with an APAC-specific portal due to the increase in applications and the quality of startups coming from the region.

Rob Desborough, managing partner at Seraphim Space/Generation Space and CEO of the Accelerator, commented: “We are excited to open our applications for a new group of startups to be part of a global alumni of world changing companies.

“Our network and reach now strengthened with the addition of Leidos as a partner. Mission 12 will be yet another milestone for us, as we expand our APAC offering for the first time. Mission 12 is a true representation of the global nature of the SpaceTech industry today.”
