Volunteers show support for Chichester homeless charity
Employees from a leading housebuilder have stepped in to help a Chichester homeless charity at its second-hand store in the city.
Stonepillow supports and empowers homeless and vulnerable people across the region, and its Stonepillow Restore depot sells on furniture and white goods, that have been donated by the public, to raise money for those who need it.
Barratt Homes, which is bringing new homes to the county, has now shown its support for the organisation’s work, and sent in three volunteers to help at the charity’s depot on Terminus Road.
The housebuilding team spent the day organising and displaying donations, and Leigh-Beth Stroud, Fundraising, Events and Philanthropy Manager at Stonepillow said she really appreciated the help.
She said: “Having the Barratt volunteers join us today has made a huge difference and we were really impressed with their work. It’s important to make sure donations are organised and displayed correctly to ensure maximum revenue is made, and the team did a brilliant job. A big thank you from everyone here.”
Megan Hamlyn, Barratt Homes Marketing Manager, was lending a hand on the day. She said: “We want to support organisations in the communities where we are building new homes, and Stonepillow is providing an incredible list of services for homeless and vulnerable people in the local area. It’s been a pleasure to help today.”
Stonepillow supports and empowers homeless and vulnerable people to achieve sustainable independence and wellbeing. Its teams focus on supporting people to maintain a stable life, health, and home. The charity provides safe, secure, high-quality accommodation, support with mental health, recovery and wellbeing, and fresh food and essential provisions.
Barratt Homes is building new homes across the region. It is committed to supporting local causes, and its employees are all entitled to two days per year to take as volunteering days.
