ANote Music brings Swedish King of K-Pop Andreas Öberg’s groundbreaking K-Pop catalogue to ANote Platform and investors across the globe

ANote Music, Europe’s leading marketplace for investing in music royalties, has announced that songwriter and producer Andreas Öberg, known as the Swedish King of K-pop, will list a portion of his songwriting and publishing royalty interest on the ANote Music platform.

The listing, ANote’s first of an Asian Music catalogue, features more than 50 songs written and produced by Öberg, including mega hits from the K-pop and J-pop music scenes.

Öberg is a multi platinum-awarded songwriter, producer and guitarist with more than 17 million singles and albums sold throughout his career. More than 30 songs Öberg has written or produced have reached No1 in the Japan charts, with more than 20 in South Korea.

The K-pop market has exploded in popularity in recent years. Japan was the second largest music market in the world in 2022, with Korea seventh. The genre is also growing internationally: the Korea Times report that export sales of K-Pop albums grew by 17.1% in the first half of 2023 to $132.9m, with sales in the US overtaking sales in China.

The catalogue, listed for the entire Life of Rights, is valued at €750,000 and has generated average annual royalties of more than €85,000 in the last three years. Öberg will list 30% of the songwriting and publishing royalties derived from songs he has written and produced, with the first royalty distributions from the catalogue expected within three months of the closing auction date.

The catalogue includes collaborations with artists including EXO, Red Velvet, NCT Dream, TAEYEON and SHINee. Songs from the catalogue have a combined total of more than 380 million streams on streaming platforms.

Commenting on the listing, ANote Music CEO Marzio Schena said: “Bringing a K-Pop catalogue to the ANote Music platform has long been an ambition of ours, and we are thrilled to be working with Andreas on this listing.

K-Pop as a genre is enjoying a meteoric rise and continuing to grow internationally. There are very few places where music fans can invest into Asian music catalogues, and we are sure our investor community will be excited by this opportunity to engage with a new market. “

Andreas Öberg said: “I am thrilled to partner with ANote Music, who are pioneering a new approach to the music industry by allowing fans to invest in the royalties generated by their favourite songs and artists.

It’s very exciting to work with ANote to list the first K-Pop catalogue (also including J-Pop & C-Pop titles) on their platform, and one of the first opportunities for investors from around the world to benefit from the royalties generated by well-known songs by some of the genres biggest and most successful groups such as SHINee, Red Velvet, EXO, Super Junior, NCT Dream and NCT 127.

K-Pop’s influence is expanding outside of the Asian market with increasing interest in the US, South America, Europe & the Middle East. I believe we are only at the start of this journey and that the growth will continue as the genre becomes even more influential globally in the coming months and years.“

The top 10 performing tracks included in the catalogue are:
