Delifonseca Team Walk City Streets to Fundraise for Cancer Research

A team from one of Liverpool’s most well-loved restaurants is swapping its chef whites for sportswear to take part in a fundraising walk.

Eighteen staff from Delifonseca Dockside at Brunswick Dock, have signed up to the Shine Walk Liverpool to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Taking place on September 8 and starting at the iconic Pier Head, it covers 10km of the city’s streets on a route that takes in the Chinatown Gate, Liverpool Cathedral and Liverpool University. Last year’s Shine Night Walk Liverpool raised £123,758 towards life-saving research.

Every department is represented, from the food hall, restaurant and kitchen to outside catering and the offices. Even Pepper, Delifonseca’s beloved dog, is joining in!

Lavinia Cooke, General Manager, said: “This is a cause close to all our hearts and with every step we’re turning our collective efforts into tangible hope and progress to beat this terrible disease. We’re doing it in memory of the family, friends and colleagues we have lost, as well as the people fighting cancer now. “We think it will be a really special event to be involved in; walking the streets of the city that we love to raise money for a cause that has touched so many of us. We want to raise as much money as possible to help this brilliant charity to do further research into this devastating illness.”

The team at Delifonseca has set a fundraising target of £1,500 and everyone who makes a donation to the team will be entered into a raffle, where the more you donate, the more entries you will receive.

Raffle prizes include a luxury hamper, a dinner for two with a bottle of wine, Mermaid Gin, Edge Butchers Vouchers and much more.

Lavinia added: “We are so grateful to everyone who has sponsored us so far, it really does mean a lot to us. We’d also like to thank our lovely suppliers who have helped with the prizes, including Edge Butchers, Cotswold Fayre, Mentzendorff, Boutinot, Toxteth Chocolates, Willys ACV, Greek Oil Direct and Eurowines.”
