Dorset children get creative to ‘draw’ attention to importance of construction site safety
Children of construction workers at Barratt Homes’ Quarter Jack Park in Wimborne, have been highlighting the importance of building site safety, in a special poster competition.
Wanting to ensure everyone at the leading housebuilder’s development in Dorset, could have a constant reminder of health and safety, Assistant Site Manager, Victoria Grinnall, launched the competition for the children of her on-site workers.
Eight youngsters sent in their personal take on keeping their parent, and others, safe while at work, and a winner and runner up have been selected to have their poster take pride of place at the Barratt Homes development.
Victoria said: “Barratt Homes is committed to achieving high standards of health and safety, and who better to help us highlight this, then the children of our workers here?
“I’m thrilled with the entries we’ve received. Each one is fantastic, so it was really hard to pick a winner. All posters will be printed out and positioned around the site.
Eva Hollywood (4) created the winning entry, with a colourful drawing of her dad works at the Quarter Jack park site, in his full PPE. Eva’s poster will be on display at the very front of development for all to see, and was invited on site to have a photo next to her winning artwork.
Runner up was Cooper Macedo (8). Cooper’s grandad works as the Site Manager for Barratt’s groundwork company, Mackoy, produced a poster including a digger and a ‘safety first’ sentiment. His entry will be on display in the Barratt development’s site office. Victoria added: “A huge congratulations to Eva and to Cooper, as well as to all the other kids that created some fabulous posters for us. I can’t wait to see them on display across the development in the coming weeks.”
Barratt Homes is committed to achieving high standards of health, safety and welfare, creating a safe working environment at all times.
