OWB Creative land prestigious double success at inaugural Midlands Marketing Awards

Leading communications agency OWB Creative had a night to remember by landing two prestigious trophy wins at the first Midlands Marketing Awards.

Birmingham-based OWB, which delivers campaigns for top UK brands, won the Not-for-Profit Campaign prize for its work for Cure Leukaemia, which has seen the blood cancer charity supported with an ongoing programme of marketing activity to boost fundraising.

Established 25 years ago, OWB provides marketing solutions for a range of market leaders including Lloyds Banking Group, LDC Bupa and KPMG.

Managing Director and Co-Founder Andy Wilkinson won the Marketing Leader of the Year for his impact as the head of the agency, which has its office in St Paul’s Square.

Billed as “the only awards built for Midlands marketers, by Midlands marketers”, the Midlands Marketing Awards, announced at a ceremony at the Grand Hotel Birmingham, in Colmore Row, were open to any individual, business, or organisation within the marketing profession in the region.

The Not-for-Profit prize was created to recognise campaigns focused on cause-related marketing and not solely on revenue-driven results, while the Marketing Leader of the Year award was “open to both client-side and agency professionals who can prove their leadership drove business success”.

Andy Wilkinson said: “We are delighted to receive recognition for the positive impact made by our team for Cure Leukaemia, a charity with a fantastic mission and who we have supported over many years to inform and engage more people about their work than ever before.

“The highlights included our work for Tour 21, the charity’s headline fundraising drive which sees a team of 18 non-professional riders ride 3400km on the full 21 stages of the Tour de France, which has raised £3m over the last three years and will return in 2024.

“It is pleasing to have my individual performance recognised but I must pay tribute to the fantastic team I have around me and the support of our clients, who have all enabled me to achieve the results honoured with this prize.”

Co-Founder and Director Shari Bryan said: “Working on an international stage, OWB is proud to be from the West Midlands so it means a great deal to be recognised through the Midlands Marketing Awards, which honoured the very best of our region.

“We have worked hard to build our reputation as a marketing agency with a wealth of knowledge and know-how for creating campaigns to achieve results for a wide range of clients, so it is pleasing to have our continued efforts celebrated through these awards.”

Around 150 marketing professionals attended the Midlands Marketing Awards ceremony, which saw eight prizes presented to winners on Tuesday night (September 26).
