Arc'teryx equips itself with Covent Garden flagship
Shaftesbury Capital is pleased to announce that Arc’teryx, the Canadian high performance outdoor apparel and accessories brand, will be significantly upsizing to a new flagship store at 42 King Street in Covent Garden. This latest move reaffirms the brand’s commitment to, and success within, the destination, reinforcing Covent Garden’s appeal in attracting high-quality retailers.
Arc’teryx will be opening a new anchor 8,000 sq ft space at 42 King Street early next year, marking a 400% increase in its retail footprint within Covent Garden. Sitting adjacent to brands such as Glossier, Apple, Aēsop, and the iconic Covent Garden Piazza, Arc’teryx will deliver a comprehensive collection featuring its full range of technical gear, footwear, and accessories for a variety of outdoor sports, such as mountaineering, climbing, hiking, skiing, and more. The new King Street store will follow the brand’s current retail format and design, with the 49 Long Acre store continuing to trade until early next year.
Specialising in long-lasting, durable products crafted with high-quality materials, Arc’teryx first opened in Covent Garden 2 years ago, delivering its first European concept to visitors and championing the brand’s most renowned designs.
Michelle McGrath, Executive Director, Shaftesbury Capital, commented: “Arc’teryx is a leader in the outdoor performance wear sector and having seen a strong performance from their first store in Covent Garden, we are excited to welcome their new enlarged concept on King Street. We always strive to identify opportunities where we can support high growth retailers within our portfolio and the investment in a larger flagship store demonstrates our approach in providing opportunities for existing tenants, as well as new.”
Sven Radtke, EMEA General Manager, Arc’teryx added: “The upsizing in Covent Garden is a very exciting step forward for Arc’teryx. We have seen a lot of success since its opening two years ago and plan to open a bigger store to fully immerse our guests into an elevated experience of our brand. In this key location within London, the new brand store in Covent Garden will showcase a wider range of products and services for our community to enjoy such as ReBIRD™, our circularity program that focuses on the care and repair, and up-cycling of our products.”
The news of Arc’teryx’s new store signing follows the recent opening of performance footwear and apparel brand, HOKA®, marking the brand’s first retail location in Europe. Located on 2-3 James Street, the 1750 sq. ft flagship store showcases the full line of footwear, apparel, and accessories.
