This week's Yorkshire appointments: Featuring Guest Walker, DPP Planning and more

This week’s round up of Yorkshire appointments includes Guest Walker, DPP Planning, Perfect Storm & Wake Smith Solicitors. Read on to find out more.

Sue Hanley, Guest Walker

York-based property and life planning solicitors firm, Guest Walker, has appointed senior solicitor, Sue Hanley, to its fast-growing Life Planning department.

Sue, who began her legal career almost 30 years ago in Norwich, brings with her a wealth of expertise in Probate, Wills, Powers of Attorney and Estate Planning and has a well-established reputation in York having previously worked at Hethertons Solicitors.

Speaking of Sue’s appointment, Rowena Rogers said: “I am thrilled to welcome Sue to the team. Sue is extremely approachable and is able to offer our clients a wealth of experience across all life planning matters.”

David Smith, DPP Planning

DPP Planning has announced that highly experienced planning consultant David Smith has become a Director and member of the business’ Board.

Based out of the national independent planning consultancy’s Leeds office, David will support DPP’s growing presence in Leeds and the Yorkshire Region, supporting a strong client list and an expanding pipeline of projects. He will also have a focus on DPP’s activities in the urban living market, advising on projects in areas such as Build to Rent, student accommodation and co-living.

With a strong track record in the student housing sector, both for purpose-built developments and conversions and extensions of existing properties, including listed buildings, David has also supported a cross section of clients in the Leeds and Yorkshire area, including YPP, Harrogate Town Football Club and the University of Leeds.

After a short period in Sydney, Australia, David returned to Ireland with John Spain Associates, before joining Indigo, which had offices in London and Leeds. Indigo was subsequently acquired by WSP where David became Associate Director based at its Leeds office.

David Smith, director at DPP Planning, said: “Joining an independent planning consultancy with national coverage is really attractive to me, having worked for a similar type of business in the past. Becoming a director also enables me to have an influence on the growth of the business alongside a very dynamic leadership team.”

Gen Larkin, Joe Metcalfe, Charlotte Smith & Sophie Emms, Perfect Storm

Perfect Storm has appointed four new members to the team to help the digital agency deliver on its plans for growth, following a significant number of new business wins. To help manage the growing demand for its digital marketing services, the Leeds-based agency has appointed experienced talent manager Gen Larkin to the team.

Her brief is to help the agency further develop its network of partners, maximising the talent available to ensure the continuation of exceptional service to clients as the agency grows. Gen previously headed up global recruitment at Search Laboratory and has worked in the digital marketing sector for seven years.

Also joining the Perfect Storm team is Joe Metcalfe, taking up the role of strategic client partner. He joins from IMA Home, where he was head of PR, social and content strategy. His role will see him developing Perfect Storm’s strategic offering as client’s increasingly look to the agency for more top level support, as well as developing its offering in the digital PR, social and influencer space.

Charlotte Smith has taken up the role of digital producer, also joining from IMA Home where she was senior delivery manager working on accounts such as Jet2.com, British Land, Orchard Pig, Magners and Virgin Media. In her new role she will be managing a number of key accounts, utilising her fully integrated experience, particularly in creative and production.

Finally, Sophie Emms is joining the team as a new graduate, after achieving a first-class degree in marketing management from Lancaster University. Perfect Storm was founded as a challenger agency in 2016 by Adam Errington and Dave Nutter. Adam said: “These important appointments are a sign of our growth as an agency as we move to the next stage of our development.”

On her appointment, Gen Larkin added: “As the team grows I want to focus on making processes as polished as possible for both employees and the freelancers we work with. It’s important to ensure the best talent is always on our radar and that they can see the clear benefits of working with the Perfect Storm team.”

Joe Creasor, Millie Vaughan & Michael Lee, Wake Smith Solicitors

South Yorkshire law firm Wake Smith Solicitors has strengthened its corporate team to become one of the region’s largest company and commercial specialists.

Joe Creasor joins as a newly-qualified solicitor having spent the previous 12 months as a trainee within the department, and trainee solicitor Michael Lee now joins the team; demonstrating Wake Smith’s continued commitment to development.

Corporate solicitor Millie Vaughan has also recently rejoined Wake Smith’s company commercial team led by Wake Smith director and chairman John Baddeley plus director Rebecca Robinson and associate Tom Haywood, who are all supported by corporate legal assistant Debbie Huckerby.

John Baddeley said: “I am delighted to welcome Millie, Joe and Michael to the corporate team. The trio join a team committed to outstanding client service, and has a structured training programme that promotes development of all employees.
