Hampshire housebuilder “swings in” with sponsorship for Women in Property golf event
A Hampshire housebuilder has been showing its support for women working in the construction industry, by sponsoring a recent ‘Women in Property’ golf event.
Barratt Homes is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to encouraging more women to join the building sector. Women in Property is an organisation that is creating opportunities, expanding knowledge, and inspiring change for females working in the industry, and the leading housebuilder was keen to sponsor its recent golf and networking morning.
Held at Hamptworth Golf Club in Salisbury in October, the event gave attendees the chance to meet and chat with like-minded women, and offered a coaching session from Katie Dawkins, an Advanced PGA Professional, and Nicky Lawrenson, Founder of Women in Golf and Business and PGA Fellow Professional.
Participants were given insight into the benefits of golf for professional women both from a business/career perspective as well as from a physical and mental wellbeing perspective, and this was followed by a practical coaching session.
Jade Hawksworth from Women in Property said: “We organised this event, along with Women in Golf and Business, to provide a morning for women to network with others in similar positions to them, and for them to experience a practical golf coaching session.
“There are so many benefits of golf for professional women in terms of their network, self-confidence, and overall wellbeing, so having the ability to play is invaluable. The event was a great success and would not have been possible without our sponsors. We thank Barratt for its support. Hopefully this will lead to the start of many more opportunities for women in the property industry to play golf in the future.”
Tammy Bishop, Barratt Homes Sales Director, said: “Like Women in Property, Barratt wants to inspire more women and girls to take up a career in the building industry, and will be there to support them through the ranks. When we heard about this dedicated golf morning, we were eager to help. It was a fantastic event to be a part of.”
Women in Property creates opportunities, expands knowledge, and inspires change for women working in the property and construction industry. The organisation believes that success and its rewards should be founded on merit and expertise, rather than gender, and links members to fellow professionals across sectors and across the UK.
As an equal opportunities’ employer, Barratt Homes works hard to ensure there are roles for everyone regardless of gender, race or background. Not only does this level the playing field for equal opportunities, but it creates a richer and more vibrant working environment.
