Shaftesbury Primary School fireworks light up the sky thanks to David Wilson Homes

Shaftesbury Primary School fireworks event went off with a ‘bang’ this week, thanks to some vital sponsorship support from local housebuilder David Wilson Homes.

Delayed because of bad weather, the school’s postponed bonfire celebrations finally went ahead on Wednesday 8th November, and the annual event was a huge success. Families from the area gathered on the Dorset primary’s playing field and were treated to some spectacular fireworks along with live music and refreshments.

Leading housebuilder, David Wilson Homes, which is building at Niveus Walk in Shaftesbury, handed over £1,500 towards the cost of the community event.

Rich Mullins, a member of the school’s PTA, which organised the evening, said it couldn’t have happened without the developer’s support. “The school’s fireworks evening is a great night for all the community to get together,” he said. “We’re hugely grateful to David Wilson Homes for helping towards the cost – it couldn’t have gone ahead without them.

“We were disappointed to have to postpone the event because of the rain but were so glad we didn’t need to cancel. Once again, it has been amazing to see everyone enjoying the food, music, and firework display tonight.”

David Wilson Homes is committed to helping organisations in the communities in which it’s building, and Tammy Bishop, Sales Director, said: “It has been a pleasure to show are support for this wonderful event for the local community and I’m delighted to hear how much fun everyone had on the night – well done to all the organisers involved. It sounds like it was a spectacular evening.”

Shaftesbury CE Primary School is situated on Wincombe Lane and teaches children aged 4-11. The school’s PTA team is a Registered Charity, which aims to raise funds for the benefit of the children.
