Stagecoach Manchester reveals first look at new buses following £7.5m investment

Stagecoach Manchester has today revealed a first look at its newest buses, ahead of their first trip on the roads of Greater Manchester on Monday 4 December.

The new, low-emission double decker buses form part of a £7.5m investment from Stagecoach Manchester, which will see 30 new double decker buses on the roads of Greater Manchester, marking the company’s continued commitment to providing greener, more sustainable travel options and enhancing services for customers in the region.

These latest buses will operate mainly on 216 and 219 routes from Monday 4 December. They join 15 new buses that entered service in the Summer of 2023 and run mainly on services 201 and 203.

The new buses have been manufactured in the UK by Alexander Dennis. They feature Euro VI engines, which are significantly cleaner engines helping to cut carbon emissions. This investment means that Stagecoach will remove older buses from its fleet, benefitting local air quality.

Rob Jones, Managing Director of Stagecoach Manchester, commented: “We’re delighted to be introducing more new, low emission buses. They really are a testament to our ongoing commitment to the Greater Manchester region, ensuring that everyone in our local communities can benefit from greener public transport.”

The new buses also have CCTV, audio-visual next stop announcements, and USB charging points to enhance the safety and comfort of customers.
