Growing tailor brand measures up ‘prestigious’ location for third London store

Developer Merchant Land has let one of two commercial units at Merchant House to Casual Fitters, which has chosen Charlotte Street for its third London store.

The tailor launched five years ago with its first location in Spitalfields, before opening a second on Fleet Street. Its newest location in Fitzrovia will allow the brand to expand, serving the area’s community of creative industry and finance professionals.

Merchant House was redeveloped by Merchant Land following its acquisition of three adjacent buildings. After securing planning permission, preserving its original Victorian façade, it created eight new apartments along with ground floor commercial space for independent retailers.

Julian Lloyd-Jones, CEO of Casual Fitters, commented: “Merchant House is the ideal location for our third store. Charlotte Street is a prestigious address that fits well with our brand and allows us to expand our client base further.

“We’ve seen strong growth during the last 12 months, underpinned by quality, craftsmanship and our focus on making bespoke tailoring less daunting. Charlotte Street provides space to service growing demand in one of London’s most vibrant districts.”

Katherine McCullough, MD of Merchant Land, added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Casual Fitters to Merchant House. It’s fantastic news for the growing brand and we’ve no doubt Merchant House will prove a successful location for Julian and his team as it continues to expand.”

Casual Fitters was founded by Julian Lloyd-Jones, who followed in his Great Grandfather’s steps to become a tailor.

Originally from Australia, he founded the brand in London, carving a niche by making tailoring ‘approachable’, while providing bespoke clothing of the highest quality. It has since built a loyal following, serving everyone from young professionals through to Judges.

Merchant Land is an established property development and investment company based in Central London with over 20 years’ experience. It specialises in small and medium sized projects in central and fringe central locations. It has a number of exciting projects in the pipeline, including residential, mixed-use and office schemes.
