Global engineering consultancy strengthens London team with ‘expert hire’

Engineering and construction services consulting firm, DeSimone Consulting Engineering, has expanded its façade division into the UK with the appointment of Darren Kent as associate director.

In his new role, Darren will head up DeSimone’s façade practice in the UK. His knowledge of European design, engineering, and the construction industry amplifies and deepens the expertise of the company’s façade team in London, which is positioned to serve clients in the UK, US, Europe, and around the world.

Darren brings over 27 years of specialised façade experience to DeSimone, including a wealth of knowledge in the design, sourcing, fabrication, testing, construction, and operation of façade systems.

Over the course of his career, Darren has played a key role in many notable projects, such as the major refurbishment of The Chalcots Estate in the London Borough of Camden, the development of Everton’s new stadium in Liverpool, the Crystal (City Hall) in London, the Design Museum in Kensington, and the Silo in Cape Town.

Darren has represented the Society of Façade Engineering on external committees relating to the fire safety of façades. He has co-authored technical papers and has contributed to the development of new standards and façade industry guidance.

Prior to joining DeSimone, Darren spent 12 years as a member of the façade leadership team at Arup in London. His experience also includes work for German, Austrian and Italian façade contractors, and fabricators.

Stephen DeSimone, Chairman and CEO of DeSimone Consulting Engineering, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Darren Kent to lead our UK façade team.

“His exceptional track record in delivering complex façade projects in the UK and Europe broadens and complements the strengths of our façade team, enabling us to provide this service to our UK-based clients and partners.”

Darren added: “I’m excited to join DeSimone during such a pivotal period of growth for the façade division and the firm. I look forward to working alongside the leadership and the entire team to enhance the delivery of services to our clients in the UK and Europe.”
