Turnover up 10% at Sheffield business thanks to training funded through South Yorkshire Skills Bank

A Sheffield company has improved overall turnover and profitability thanks to support from South Yorkshire Skills Bank to help them access training.

Via Moto, one of the UK’s leading motorcycle dealerships, has seen turnover increase by over 10% after applying for a grant for training through the scheme. Dedicated Skills Advisors provided support and advised Via Moto to find the best funding option for them – and helped them to access it.

The premier motorcycle and scooter dealer, based on Shoreham Street in the city centre, had invested in improving their current Dealer Management IT system.

So, Skills Bank advisors helped them to access co-funded training to help train staff to help the business be more efficient, offer a speedier service to customers and help digitise their stock control.

South Yorkshire Skills Bank helped the company to access on-site Pyramid Dealer Management System Training, which was delivered by True Track Software, and included 28 hours of training delivered to a total of 12 members of staff.

Matthew Gilder, owner at Via Moto, said: “The training, which South Yorkshire Skills Bank helped us access, has really helped to get our business to the next level.

“Since the training was delivered, our staff within the clothing department have more time available to serve customers as less time is being spent doing admin work. Overall turnover and profitability has also increased in that department because of the changes. “The time saved due to the new system has allowed the staff to serve more customers per day. As a result, turnover is now up 10.4% on last year.”

South Yorkshire Skills Bank is available for any size business in the region to help them access and fund their training needs. It’s a flexible scheme that supports businesses in accessing funding towards their training requirements.

Dedicated Skills Advisors are there every step of the way to help businesses access up to 60% of the funds as a grant for the training.
