Cheshire charity seeks 21 business champions to secure its future for families with Down syndrome

The Down Syndrome Cheshire charity is offering 21 Cheshire businesses the opportunity to play a key part in sustaining its future by becoming a member of its newly launched Champions Club.

The charity is now in its 17th year and has had a huge impact on the Down syndrome community across Cheshire. More than 350 families have received free support and access to events and activities for all. From home visits to holiday clubs and now workplace mentoring, the charity is a lifeline for families and young people with Down syndrome.

The aim of the Champions Club is to support the financial sustainability of the charity and strive to promote opportunities for adults with Down syndrome to secure employment.

Chair Julie Duff comments: “We’re looking for a maximum of 21 socially responsible businesses to partner with us through the Champions Club.  In return, they can expect to access a number of resources for free, including makaton training and regular events and social content to boost their business profile.

“For either a one off donation of £2,130 or 12 monthly donations of £177.50 Cheshire businesses can help us to continue to deliver our free services by covering the charity’s core costs.”

Businesses interested in becoming a Champions Club member and playing a part in securing the future of the charity can find out more at: https://www.dscheshire.org.uk/the-champions-club-for-business or by calling the charity on 01606 330884.

Julie concludes: “The local business community has been so generous and supportive over the years and by becoming a Champions Club member we will be able to support them in demonstrating their social responsibility and creating a better future and more employment opportunities for those that rely on us.”
