Swinging for Sustainability: ClearVUE.Business Selected to Reduce Carnoustie Golf Links Emissions
Carnoustie Golf Links, the Scottish golf venue known as 'Golf’s Greatest Test', has selected the North East based net zero consultancy ClearVUE.Business to guide its emissions reduction strategy.
ClearVUE.Business has been chosen to implement its energy management solution, ClearVUE.Zero, across Carnoustie's operations. The advanced hardware and software technology helps businesses identify energy waste using advanced IoT-based smart energy meter hardware solutions. This is then presented in real-time, allowing Carnoustie Golf Links to view their energy consumption and carbon emissions. ClearVUE.Business’ sustainability consultants will then work together with Carnoustie Golf Links to create a tailored strategy to slash their carbon emissions.
This innovative approach was selected via public tender to enable Carnoustie to meticulously monitor and manage its environmental impact with a bespoke net-zero strategy, leveraging emissions data to optimise operational efficiency, reduce energy costs, and enhance its sustainability profile by identifying and improving key operational areas and equipment performance.
Carnoustie Golf Links’ commitment to sustainability has been recognised through various awards, solidifying its position as a leader in environmental conservation in the golfing world. It has previously won several awards for its green efforts, including the STRI Environmental Golf Course of the Year (2018) and the IAGTO Climate Action Award (2021). In addition to its sustainability accolades, Carnoustie also actively participates in significant environmental projects such as the Seagreen offshore windfarm development, which aligns with Scotland's net-zero ambitions. It also collaborates with The R&A’s Sustainable Championship Agronomy Team on a project to display the biodiversity value of golf courses and is GEO certified.
The initiative between Carnoustie Golf Links and ClearVUE.Business is now the next step in its efforts for a sustainable future within the golfing community and beyond.
“The question was not ‘if’ we step out as sustainability leaders, but ‘how’ we embrace the challenge, with the most authentic and efficient approach. ClearVUE.Business will empower us to truly understand our carbon footprint and develop strategies to help achieve our net zero target in line with our broader operational goals and commitments,” Craig Boarth from Carnoustie Golf Links, said.
Leah Barrett, Director at ClearVUE.Business, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are excited to kickstart our work with Carnoustie Golf Links, an organisation committed to spearheading a sustainability drive in the golf industry. This signals hope for a trajectory of continued transformation. Leadership from respected institutions like Carnoustie Golf Links, paves the way for others in the space to follow suit.”
